Alex is delighted to be taking on this new challenge after many years in radio (and still only 27!) during which time, she has presented every kind of radio programme for both the BBC and the commercial sector. Until recently, one of the regular presenters on the Wellbeing channel’s ‘Girls Talk.’. Alex has also been a regular contributor to Granada Breeze’s ‘Well Woman’ with occasional appearances on ‘Perfect Parenting’, ‘Granada Tonight’ and ‘The G Spot’ on Men and Motors. Alex has been a regular face on Yorkshire Television’s Calendar and produced and presented strands for the ‘Tonight’ programme, including Family Matter and Friends. For the BBC she enjoyed presenting the Year of the Pier series, and has vast experience of voice- over work including A and E for Channel 5 , Bedroom Confidential, Anglia’s production for Channel 5 and Bonnington’s Secret Mountain for both The Discovery Channel and Channel 4. Alex appeared in Emmerdale for more than three years as Jean Strickland , Head of Hotton Comp. and has had roles in Coronation Street, Prime Suspect, Byker Grove, Spender, Harry and many more… She is a panto veteran and in 1999 appeared at the Victoria Theatre in Halifax ( sharing the boards with the usual Gladiator and Neighbour) in the role of Fairy Molly, a character described by The Stage as ‘a memorable comic creation’. Her career began in radio and her late night phone-in for the Yorkshire based radio station, The Pulse was, in 1995, the subject of an important documentary in the ITV Network First series. Alex also loves writing and was a regular columnist for the Bradford Telegraph and Argus… and is currently working on her first novel, ‘You Don’t Half get Some Nutters’, a title which owes more than a little to her experiences as a phone–in host. She has hosted and appeared in a huge range of prestigious shows throughout the north, most recently causing quite a stir at the York Theatre Royal and Opera House with her rendition of Victoria Wood’s ‘Lets Do It’ in BBC Radio York’s contribution to Comic Relief. She is also much in demand as a guest speaker… Space restricts mention of all aspects of her career but without the glittering opening of the Odsal Fish bar in Bradford and the corporate video for Greggs the Bakers, perhaps she wouldn’t be where she is today. Oh, and the video for male incontinence products must surely have given her a foot up the slippery ladder of success.
