Stephen Fry was born in London in 1957 and educated at Stout’s Hill, Uppingham and Queen’s College, Cambridge. At Cambridge he joined the Footlights and performed in the Mayweek Revue of 1981 with Emma Thompson and Hugh Laurie. Whilst at Cambridge he also appeared in over 30 straight plays and wrote his first play, LATIN. Television appearances have included the classic THE YOUNG ONES, BLACKADDER II and III, SATURDAY AND FRIDAY LIVE, ALIAS SMITH AND JONES, THE LENNY HENRY SHOW, FILTHY RICH AND CATFLAP and A BIT OF FRY AND LAURIE and Film credits include THE GOOD FATHER, THE SECRET POLICEMAN'S OTHER BALL, A HANDFUL OF DUST and A FISH CALLED WANDA. His first novel, THE LIAR, was published By Heinemann in 1991 and was on the bestseller list for several months; it is now published in paperback and a collection of his writings, PAPERWEIGHT, has also been published. His third opus, THE HIPPOPOTAMUS, was released to great acclaim in the Spring of 1994. Stephen filmed the title role in WILDE which was released on October 16th 1997 in the UK and his latest book MOAB IS MY WASHPOT was released on the 6th October in the same year.
